The NC Department of Transportation and NC State are partnering up for a two-year pilot to identify unmarked burial sites and graves of Indigenous and formerly enslaved people, along with African American cemeteries in Edgecomb County. The project will not only identify burial sites, but also take measures toward preservation. (WUNC)
