Hey there, Wake County transit enthusiasts! Back in 2016, you all made a fantastic decision by voting for a half-cent sales tax to boost our transit services. The Wake Transit Plan (WTP) is like our big roadmap, guiding how we spend those funds to create a better future for transit in our area. Every four years, we give this plan a fresh look to make sure it aligns with our ten-year vision. This time, we’re planning to invest nearly $1 billion over the next decade to make public transportation more accessible and convenient for everyone in Wake County.

Wake Transit team is buzzing with ideas to enhance transit access across the region. We’re excited to share these thoughts with you as they help us shape our investment strategy. Here’s a sneak peek at what we’re considering:

– Fast, reliable bus rapid transit (BRT) connections between Raleigh and Durham

– Improved regional rail options for traveling between major spots like Durham, Raleigh, Cary, and Wake Forest

– Expanding the bus rapid transit (BRT) network

– Increasing frequent local bus service (every 15 minutes or better)

– Building mobility hubs to improve multimodal connections

– Ensuring safe access to transit with ADA-accessible stops, sidewalk connections, and signalized crossings

They need your input on these new ideas for regional connections and which projects should take priority. If you’re a regular transit rider, we’d love for you to join our Wake Transit staff for a focus group discussion. Here are the details for the meeting:

Date: January 15th

Time: 6 pm – 7:30 pm

Location: Raleigh Union Station, 2nd Floor Conference Room, 510 W Martin St
