Saturday, April 19 | 1–3 p.m. | City of Raleigh Museum

This Saturday, the City of Raleigh Museum invites you to step into the shade and explore one of the most defining—and underrated—aspects of our city: its trees. Talkin’ Trees: A Panel on Raleigh’s Trees is more than just a conversation—it’s a celebration of the green giants that shape our streets, parks, and neighborhoods.

From towering oaks to native understory species, Raleigh’s urban forest plays a vital role in the city’s identity, ecology, and quality of life. If you’ve ever admired the canopy on your morning walk or wondered how the city keeps its landscapes so lush, this free community event is for you.

Meet the Tree Team

This special panel will feature three of Raleigh’s top tree experts:

Zach Manor, Urban Forester – He’ll dive into how Raleigh plans, protects, and preserves its urban forest. Anthony McLamb, City Arborist – Hear about what it takes to keep our city trees healthy and resilient in an urban environment. Lauren Freudenberger, City Horticulturist – She’ll bring a colorful perspective on plant diversity and how green spaces connect to community wellbeing.

Together, these panelists will share insights, stories, and practical tips on everything from tree selection and planting to sustainability, climate adaptation, and how residents can get involved in caring for our canopy.
