The City of Raleigh is preparing for a brief but important pause as Duke Energy installs the new power supply for Raleigh’s future City Hall. As part of this project, the Raleigh Municipal Building—and its attached parking deck—will experience a planned power outage starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 18. Power is scheduled to be restored by Monday, July 21.

During this time, essential payment services will remain accessible through the Permit and Development Portal. However, residents and developers should note that submitting new applications or scheduling inspections will be temporarily unavailable. Think of it as a digital siesta: a short break while the city gets ready for an exciting new chapter.

For those needing to schedule services, Raleigh encourages everyone to return on Monday, July 21, when systems will be fully powered up and operations resume as usual.

The City appreciates everyone’s patience as these important upgrades are made and looks forward to welcoming the community back online soon!
