A cultural exhibit titled “Centuries in the Making: A Cultural Legacy of South Park and East Raleigh Neighborhoods” has opened in Historic South Park.
In collaboration with the South Park East Raleigh Neighborhood Association, this exhibit highlights the remarkable contributions of African Americans to the city’s history and culture.
Among the topics covered in the exhibit are Raleigh’s Black Main Street, which delves into the history of East Hargett Street and its transformation into the heart of black-owned businesses. Additionally, visitors can explore the rich heritage of Raleigh’s historic Black schools, churches, and cemeteries.

The exhibit is open to all ages and admission is free. Visitors can enjoy the exhibit from Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
