July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, a time dedicated to recognizing the mental health challenges affecting racial and ethnic minority communities while expanding access to education, support and culturally responsive resources.
To help turn awareness into community action, the Robert-Ann Foundation will host its 4th Annual Minority Mental Health 5K Walk & Run on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Anderson Point Park in Raleigh.

Why Minority Mental Health Awareness Matters
Minority and underserved communities can encounter significant barriers when seeking mental health care. Those barriers may include cost, limited access to providers, cultural stigma, discrimination, language differences and a shortage of professionals who understand a community’s lived experiences.
Minority Mental Health Awareness Month encourages communities to:
- Reduce stigma surrounding mental illness and treatment.
- Promote open and respectful conversations about mental health.
- Connect individuals and families with helpful resources.
- Support culturally responsive mental health services.
- Remind people experiencing mental health challenges that they are not alone.
The Robert-Ann Foundation’s annual walk and run creates a welcoming space where Raleigh residents can raise awareness, find community resources and support people affected by mental health challenges.
Ways to Participate in the Raleigh 5K
There are several ways for individuals, families, businesses and organizations to support the 2026 Minority Mental Health 5K.
Register as a Walker or Runner
Community members can walk or run to show their support for mental health awareness. Participants are encouraged to invite family members, friends, coworkers, church groups and community organizations.
Become a Community Partner
Local organizations can participate as community partners and share their programs, services and resources with attendees.
Community-partner participation is free, giving nonprofits and service providers an opportunity to reach residents who may benefit from their work.
Volunteer at the Event
Volunteers are needed to help the Robert-Ann Foundation create a safe, welcoming and successful experience.
Volunteer roles may support event setup, participant check-in, course activities, resource areas and other event-day needs.
Participate as a Vendor
Organizations and vendors interested in participating should complete the appropriate online registration form.
Vendor registration deadline: Monday, July 20, 2026
Additional logistics and next steps will be provided following registration.
Building a Healthier Raleigh Community
Mental health awareness should extend beyond a single month or event. Lasting progress requires accessible services, informed communities and supportive environments where people feel safe asking for help.
By walking, running, volunteering or sharing resources, participants can help reduce stigma and demonstrate that mental health is a community priority.
The Robert-Ann Foundation looks forward to welcoming Raleigh residents to Anderson Point Park on July 25 as the community walks, runs and stands together for minority mental health.
Together, Raleigh can raise awareness, inspire hope and remind those who are struggling that they are not alone.
