Looking to stay informed and involved in Raleigh’s civic life? Tuesdays are often packed with opportunities to engage with local government, and May 13 is no exception. From early morning planning to evening community voices, the City of Raleigh offers residents a full schedule of events aimed at shaping our city together. Here’s a rundown of what’s happening today:

9:00 a.m. – Planning Commission Meeting

Start your Tuesday with city planning in action. The Planning Commission will meet to discuss development, zoning, and land use recommendations. These decisions help determine how Raleigh grows and adapts to community needs.

2:00 p.m. – Outreach at Duraleigh Community Library

The Community Engagement team will be at Duraleigh Community Library for an in-person outreach session. This is a great opportunity to connect with city staff, learn about local programs, and share your thoughts on community initiatives.

4:00 p.m. – City Council Work Session

City Council will meet for a work session, where members dive deep into issues before they reach the main agenda. These sessions often include updates from departments, detailed briefings, and strategy discussions.

Note: The RHDC Nominations Committee meeting scheduled for this time has been canceled.

7:00 p.m. – City Council Public Comment Session

Wrap up your day by making your voice heard. The Public Comment Session is your chance to speak directly to City Council about any issues or concerns affecting your neighborhood or Raleigh at large.

Bonus: What’s Coming Wednesday (May 14)

A quick preview: Wednesday includes a meeting of the RHDC Research Committee, a Substance Use Advisory Commission session, and the Sociable City Assessment Summit. Plus, the Community Engagement Board and Hispanic and Immigrant Affairs Board will also convene — with some virtual options available.
