    The Streets of Southpoint will adopt a social district similar to downtown Raleigh’s Sip ‘n’ Stroll. Alcoholic drinks purchased from certain eateries in the outdoor section of the mall will be allowed throughout the outdoor section. Southpoint hopes to have the social district up and running by August. (WRAL)

    Wolfpack swimmer Katharine Berkoff is taking home bronze in the women’s 100m backstroke after recording a time of 57.98 seconds. Berkoff is the first female swimmer from NC State to medal, and this is her first Olympic Games.

    Canes legend Eric Staal will officially retire from the NHL with a one-day contract from the Canes, cementing his name in Carolina history. His number will also be retired during the 2024-25 season. Over 18 seasons, Staal has notched 455 goals and helped lead the Canes to their 2006 Stanley Cup win.

    Roberts Park in east Raleigh opened its new dog run. Pet parents can use the mini park, which has separate small and big dog sections, as a new socialization spot for the area — visit at 1300 E. Martin St. or head to one of Raleigh’s many dog friendly businesses.
