Crabtree Valley Mall is continuing its transformation with a new round of store openings, restaurant additions, relocations and closures.
The latest changes include the arrival of popular national brands, new dining options and entertainment concepts. The activity comes as the Raleigh shopping center undergoes a major refresh under owner Macerich, which purchased the property for $290 million in 2025 and announced plans to invest approximately $60 million in improvements.
Here is what shoppers should know about the latest changes at Crabtree Valley Mall.
New Stores Now Open at Crabtree
POP MART
POP MART has opened its first North Carolina store on the mall’s lower level. The global retailer specializes in collectible designer toys, blind boxes and popular characters such as Labubu, Molly, SKULLPANDA and Dimoo.
The Raleigh opening gives Triangle collectors a dedicated destination for POP MART releases and exclusive merchandise.
Timberland
Timberland is another recent addition to Crabtree. The retailer offers boots, shoes, apparel and outdoor-inspired accessories known for durability and rugged style.
Five Guys
Five Guys Burgers & Fries is now open in the mall’s second-level food court. The restaurant serves customizable burgers, hot dogs, hand-cut fries and milkshakes.
Five Guys replaced the former McDonald’s location, giving shoppers a new fast-casual dining option.
Stores and Attractions Coming Soon
BoxLunch
BoxLunch is preparing to open on the first level near Belk. The specialty retailer carries apparel, accessories, collectibles and gifts inspired by Disney, Marvel, Harry Potter, anime and other entertainment franchises.
The company also supports hunger-relief efforts through its partnership with Feeding America.
JD Sports
Sneaker and sportswear retailer JD Sports is listed as coming soon to the mall’s first level. Shoppers can expect footwear, clothing and accessories from brands including Nike, Adidas, Jordan, Champion, Vans and The North Face.
Fogo de Chão
Brazilian steakhouse Fogo de Chão is coming to Crabtree, adding another full-service restaurant to the mall’s dining lineup.
The restaurant is best known for churrasco-style meats roasted over an open flame and served tableside, along with its Market Table featuring salads, vegetables and specialty dishes.
Level99
Level99 plans to bring an interactive social-gaming experience to Crabtree Valley Mall. The entertainment concept features more than 50 physical and mental challenges, along with food and craft drinks.
The attraction is expected to give visitors another reason to spend time at Crabtree beyond traditional shopping.
Additional Businesses Are Moving or Changing Locations
Hi Level Fashion temporarily closed while preparing to relocate to another space inside the mall. Crabtree’s directory also lists several businesses as under construction, coming soon or operating from temporary locations as leasing and renovation work continues.
These moves are part of a broader reshuffling involving approximately 12 businesses across the shopping center. Visitors may notice temporary storefronts, construction barriers and directory changes during the transition.
McDonald’s Closes at Crabtree
The mall’s longtime McDonald’s food-court location has closed. Five Guys has taken over the space, bringing its signature burgers, fries and shakes to the second level.
The closure reflects Crabtree’s evolving restaurant mix as management adds new dining brands to the property.
A Major Makeover Is Underway
Crabtree Valley Mall remains one of the Triangle’s largest shopping destinations, with more than 200 stores and restaurants. Its current lineup includes Apple, Macy’s, Belk, LEGO, Coach, H&M, Michael Kors, The Cheesecake Factory and P.F. Chang’s.
The ongoing investment is expected to modernize the property, improve common areas and attract additional retailers, restaurants and entertainment concepts.
Because opening dates and store locations can change, shoppers should consult the official Crabtree directory before visiting.
Crabtree Valley Mall is located at 4325 Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh.
