The Great Raleigh Cleanup has reached an impressive milestone in its mission to create a cleaner, healthier city. The Raleigh nonprofit has now removed more than 500,000 pounds of litter from local streets, parks and waterways.

The achievement reflects the power of volunteers, community partnerships and paid cleanup crews working together to improve neighborhoods throughout Raleigh.

August Cleanup Impact

During August alone, The Great Raleigh Cleanup reported:

• 19,412 pounds of litter removed
• 40 first-time volunteers welcomed
• $11,135 in workforce wages paid
• 65,200 aluminum cups and cans recycled

These results go beyond beautifying the city. The organization’s work helps keep waste out of waterways, increases recycling and provides paid employment opportunities through its cleanup workforce.

September Volunteer Opportunities in Raleigh

Stroll Club Cleanup at BLOTTO

Date: September 2
Time: 6–7 p.m.
Location: BLOTTO

Join Stroll Club for a community litter-picking stroll around the neighborhood. This event combines light exercise, community connection and environmental action.

LitterMAX Cleanup

Date: September 5
Time: 9–11 a.m.
Location: WaveMAX Laundry

Volunteers will work together to remove litter and make a positive impact in the surrounding community.

Red Hat Amphitheatre Landfill Diversion Event

Date: September 11
Time: 8–11 p.m.
Location: Red Hat Amphitheatre

Help keep recyclable cans out of the landfill during the Marcus King concert. Volunteers can support waste diversion efforts while enjoying the energy of a live downtown Raleigh event.

Hannah’s Birthday Cleanup

Date: Sunday, September 13
Time: 9–11 a.m.

Celebrate Hannah’s birthday by giving back to Raleigh. Volunteers will spend the morning removing litter and helping create a cleaner community.
