Liberation Station Bookstore will host three community-centered events in Raleigh from September 16–19, 2026. The lineup includes a creative open mic for teenagers, a family Story Circle and an in-store showcase for independent authors.

Located at 430 Hill Street, Liberation Station is North Carolina’s only Black-owned children’s bookstore. Founded by Victoria Scott-Miller, the bookstore centers Black stories, imagination and possibility while creating a gathering space for children, families and authors. Teen Open Mic Night for Ages 13–18

Teen Open Mic Night creates a welcoming space where young people can express themselves through poetry, music, storytelling and spoken word.

Teenagers ages 13–18 can take the microphone, share their creativity and connect with other young voices in the community.

Story Circle: Third Thursday

Story Circle is one of the heartbeats of Liberation Station. The recurring program invites children and families to gather, listen, imagine and grow together through stories.

The September event is the bookstore’s Third Thursday edition of Story Circle.

BLACKOUT Author Showcase
